Frequently Asked Questions

Do the needles hurt?
This is always the first question clients ask me.  First, let me tell you that the needles are sterile, disposable, one-time use needles and are completely safe.  They are also extremely thin needles, even as fine as a hair. The sensation of the needle varies from person to person.  Most people feel nothing when the needles are inserted and some feel slight pain which quickly subsides.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of  treatments needed varies from patient to patient, taking into consideration the severity of the patients condition, their constitution,  and compliance in following the recommended treatment plan. After the first treatment I will estimate the number and frequency of treatments.

Will I need to take herbs?
Chinese herbs are sometimes recommended as part of the treatment plan. Again, it depends on what each individual patient needs at the time.
Sometimes diet changes or supplements may be recommended to support the patient's healing process.

What can I expect on my first visit?
The first visit is about 1.5 hours.  I will do an in-depth interview with you, examine your tongue, feel your pulses, and palpate areas on the body. I will discuss my findings with you and then you will have your first acupuncture treatment, which most clients find extremely relaxing.
